High-twist wool with bamboo silk, tufted. Bamboo silk is a viscose, not a protein silk; we name it viscose and price it as viscose.

The piece

How it is made: Same tufting gun, same cotton backing, same latex set as the wool piece. The viscose goes in where lustre is wanted.
What it is for: Homes and commercial work that want sheen without the loom time or the price of silk.
What to look for: Compare the two fibres in the same square. The high-twist wool stays matte; the bamboo silk throws light and changes tone depending on which way you brush it.

The two twists

Twist.

Twist is how tightly the wool is spun before it is tufted. It is the tufted equivalent of knot density: the second choice, after the fibre.

Wool spun at the usual turn. The pile is soft underfoot and the colour reads deep, because a looser yarn takes more dye to the surface.

Wool spun with more turns per inch. The pile stands up rather than laying over, so the surface reads matte and holds its cut line.
