The site

The site presents the atelier's collections and trade programme and lets you enquire, request samples and, where the shop is open, buy pieces. We may change or withdraw any part of it at any time. Content is provided for information; we take care to keep it accurate but do not warrant that every detail is current.

Handmade pieces

Every Carpetstory rug is made by hand from natural materials. Colour, texture and dimensions vary from piece to piece and from the photographs on screen; natural dyes shift with light and age; a hand-knotted rug may differ from its stated size by a small tolerance, which we state in your quotation. These variations are the nature of the work, not defects.

Enquiries, quotations and commissions

A quotation sets out the piece, its specification, price, deposit, lead time and delivery terms, and is valid for the period stated on it. A commission begins when you accept the quotation in writing and the deposit is received.

For bespoke and trade work you approve a technical sheet and, where agreed, a physical sample before weaving begins. Once approved, changes to size, colour or design may change the price and lead time.

Lead times are estimates given in good faith; hand-knotting takes months and we will keep you informed. Because a commissioned piece is made for you, cancellation after weaving has begun is subject to the terms in your quotation.

Samples

The sample kit is offered on the terms shown on the samples page at the time of your request, including the number of samples supplied without charge. Samples are woven to your specification and are not returnable.

Shop purchases

Where a piece is bought through our online shop, the price, delivery cost, delivery estimate and return terms shown at checkout form part of the contract. Orders are accepted when we confirm dispatch. Payments are processed by Shopify and its payment providers.

Prices and payment

Prices are quoted in the currency stated and exclude import duties and taxes in the destination country unless your quotation says otherwise. Payment terms, including deposits and balance before dispatch, are set out in the quotation or at checkout.

Delivery

We ship from Jaipur and Delhi by sea or air with export documentation. Risk passes according to the Incoterm on your quotation or, for shop orders, on delivery. Import duty, VAT and customs clearance in the destination country are your responsibility unless the quotation states delivered duty paid. Please inspect the piece on arrival and tell us at once of any transit damage.

Trade accounts

Trade pricing and programme terms are for professionals in interior design, architecture, retail and hospitality. We may ask for evidence of trade status and may close an account that is used to resell outside the agreed terms.

Intellectual property

The designs, photographs, text and the Carpetstory name on this site belong to House of Dotone LLP or its licensors. You may not copy, reproduce or use them commercially without written permission. Designs commissioned by you remain yours where the quotation says so.

Liability

We are liable for a piece that does not meet its agreed specification, and our liability for any order is limited to the price you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury or fraud.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes are subject to the courts of Jaipur, Rajasthan. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you keep the protections of your local law.
